Will the federal government abide by two federal judges’ orders to continue SNAP at 100%? Given the layoffs, delays to restarting already-cancelled food shipments, and general foot-dragging on the part of the government, the food situation is going to be difficult for some time for the many people who rely on SNAP.
Food banks are not the solution, but they can help. One of Indivisible’s goals is promoting a just and equitable society. Donating to food banks is one way to support mutual aid! Until funds get released, or the shutdown ends, we will be targeting areas of Seattle each week with specific food banks to send support their way.
We always wonder – is this working? Is this effective? How do we know if our “asks” are generating the results we want? Help us answer this question by noting “food bank/Seattle Indivisible” in the comment (or tribute section if no comment space is available) of the donation page. We will ask each food bank to count the number of “SI” donations received (absolutely NO personal information will be asked for or shared). This note will let us to know if these actions are useful.
Today, we are targeting the food banks in the general east “middle” of Seattle.

Help keep Seattle Indivisible running: We are all volunteers at Seattle Indivisible, but a lot of what supports our basic operations, such as meeting spaces, fliers, and website hosting costs money. Please contribute to keep us going strong: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/seattleindivisible
