Don’t buy Starbucks – don’t go to a Starbucks store! Why? Union Starbucks stores’ workers are going on strike today, November 13th. They are pushing back on unresponsive management, unjust retaliation, and an unfair scheduling system. From their webpage:
Without a union, workers are “at will” employees, giving a company the authority to discipline or terminate whenever they want except for discriminatory reasons (race, gender, religion, etc.). Decisions are made by the company with no input from us, the partners.
With a union, power is shared between workers and the company. Once a union is certified, the company has a duty to bargain in good faith with the union. With collective bargaining, we gain a real voice to address the issues we face at Starbucks.

“Hi, my name is [your name] and I live in [city, state]. I support Starbucks baristas in their fight for a union and a fair contract, and pledge not to cross any picket line. I will not patronize any Starbucks store when baristas are on ULP strike. As a world-wide corporation, you must treat your workers fairly, and recognize the contribution they make to your success. Support your workers!”
