Official Daily Action for Friday, May 22nd, 2026
A quick reminder that this weekend is Folklife – Seattle’s free start-of-summer fest! Two ways to participate and support activism at Folklife:
Come visit Common Power at Kuleana Corridor at Folklife on Sunday May 24th (11-6) – find out about voting and helping to get out the vote!
Come hear activist musicians discuss their work, and play some songs on Saturday, May 23rd, at the Eve Alvord Theatre (4:30 – 5:30)! Also, reps from Federal Building Fridays and Seattle Indivisible will be available for Q&A about working with performers for your next rally or march!
The above is fun. This next thing is not.
Stop Trump’s $1.8B Political Slush Fund
From 5 Calls:
Dodging judicial oversight, the Trump administration has dropped its dubious lawsuit against the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and directed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to create a $1.776 billion “anti-weaponization” compensation fund for so-called political victims of the Biden administration. This pool of money is in fact an illegal and nakedly corrupt slush fund that will funnel taxpayer money to Trump’s political allies, including the violent insurrectionists who assaulted the Capitol on January 6, 2021. Acting Attorney General and enthusiastic Trump lackey Todd Blanche will appoint the five individuals responsible for doling out these stolen funds.
The creation of this slush fund is yet another act of breathtaking corruption to enrich Trump and his supporters amid an ongoing affordability crisis caused by the president’s incompetence and apathy. House Democrats are poised to force a vote on legislation to block the use of the fund, and even some Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune, have questioned the fund’s legality.
Congress must do everything they can to prevent this blatant theft of taxpayer dollars to pay off Trump’s cronies.
ACTION: Urge your representatives to immediately act to block this unprecedented fraud.
RELATED:
Trump’s key ally for this slush fund is Frank Bisignano, the billionaire that Trump appointed as Commissioner of Social Security, and then made up a job for at the IRS. If Bisignano is willing to raid the U.S. Treasury for Donald Trump, how can we trust him with Social Security’s $2.7 trillion trust fund?
Bonus Action: Call on your members of Congress to demand Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano resign!
