Official Daily Actions for Friday, October 31, 2025
1. Tell Congress to release emergency SNAP funds
The ongoing federal shutdown means that people will not receive SNAP benefits starting on November 1. According to the Statewide Poverty Action Network, about 11% of Washingtonians rely on SNAP to meet basic food needs. Email your representatives in Congress today to tell them to release emergency SNAP funds to prevent a crisis for vulnerable people across our state.
Contact your Congressperson directly (find contact details on this site: https://www.congress.gov/members/find-your-member) and/or use this form: https://mazon.org/policy_actions/call-on-congress-to-avert-hunger-crisis-and-fund-november-snap-benefits
2. Contact Governor Ferguson with a thank you and a demand
Contact Governor Ferguson: first, thank him for extending temporary support to food banks in response to potential loss of SNAP funding; second, urge him to fund Washington Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) agency requests in the 2026 legislative session. This request will support lost SNAP funding in coming years and help DSHS maintain basic services to Washingtonians in the face of drastic cuts to federal funding.

3. Donate or volunteer at a local food bank
You can find food banks near you by inputting your zip code into the findhelp.org search and then selecting “Food Pantry” from the results menu. This will show food banks in your area, so you can reach out directly to ask what assistance they need at this time.
If you have the resources, consider supporting neighbors hurt by cuts to SNAP and other programs by donating to Food Lifeline: https://foodlifeline.org/snap-cuts-em
