Today’s action comes from the good folks at the WA Coalition for Police Accountability.
HB 1579 is a pivotal piece of legislation that has passed the state House and is up for a hearing in the state Senate’s Law and Justice committee. It represents a significant step towards improving community safety, justice, and reentry processes within our state. This bill aims to establish mechanisms for independent prosecutions within the office of the Attorney General for criminal conduct arising from police use of force. If passed, HB 1579 would take a major step toward achieving accountability and transparency in law enforcement.
The Senate Law and Justice committee hearing is scheduled for Thursday, February 15 at 8:00 AM.
