Official Daily Action for Tuesday, July 26, 2022
Seattle’s weather report for the upcoming week has temperatures reaching 85-90 degrees. During last year’s heat wave, there were 100 heat related deaths. Unhoused people are especially vulnerable to heat waves because of limited access to shelter, shade, water and food. Predictably, the city of Seattle is actually scheduling FOUR sweeps this week, including a massive 50+ vehicle/RV encampment on Tuesday. We should be caring for our community members, not displacing them during a heat wave. Today’s action, from Stop the Sweeps Seattle, is to contact the city and urge them to NOT sweep during a heat wave.
