Last night, the Jan. 6 Committee in Congress began public hearings laying out just how close our democracy came to collapse on January 6, 2021, and how much danger we are still in from those who believe the Big Lie that the election was stolen. We learned that Trump said Pence ‘deserved’ to be hanged, and that Republican Leader and current Trump defender Kevin McCarthy feared for his life and begged Trump to call off the attack.
Here are two actions you can take to defend democracy:
1. Spread the word about the 1/6 hearings and Republicans’ treasonous actions:
One problem with holding ‘blockbuster’ hearings in today’s media environment is that even in primetime, it is mostly partisan Democrats and partisan Republicans who have any interest in watching. But we have our megaphones, too.
Your action is to SHARE an article and/or video of quality reporting about the first night of the hearings on your social media page, and describe what is at stake in your own words. Share how you will be voting and taking action this fall.

2. Get out the vote
