OFFICIAL DAILY ACTION FOR Thursday, February 17th, 2022
Today’s Daily Action comes to us from Southeast Asian Defense Deportation Network (SEADDN) in service of their National Week of Action to End Southeast Asian Deportations. Immigrant rights activists warn that ICE plans to increase deportations in the Cambodian community starting in February. Deportations to Cambodia have risen 279% since visa sanctions on the country were instituted in 2017, although they were largely paused due to the pandemic. Ramping up deportations again threatens to destroy families in a community still impacted by the US’s intervention in Southeast Asia.
Use SEADDN’s toolkit to join informational community calls and help spread the word. The toolkit also contains calls scripts for the White House and your local ICE office. Even if you can’t make these sessions for the rest of the Week of Action, we urge you to demand an end to these deportations and ICE’s cooperation in keeping families intact.
