Washington has an extremely regressive tax structure. In fact, a study (linked below) shows that the lowest earning Washington residents pay nearly 18% of their annual income in state and local taxes while those in the highest tax bracket end up paying only 3%. We desperately need our tax system to change. After the elections this past November, we have a whole new slate of Washington state legislators for the upcoming legislative session. Today’s daily action, from Invest in Washington Now, is to contact them and first congratulate them for being part of our new legislature and then urge them to fight for taxing the rich.
