We hope you have all had a wonderful start to this holiday season and get to spend time with your friends, family, and/or chosen family!
We know, of course, that Thanksgiving is a deeply problematic holiday that marks the arrival of the Pilgrims in North America and ignores the many violent atrocities that settlers and colonizers have committed and continue to commit against Indigenous peoples. We invite you to recognize the Indigenous people on whose ancestral lands you live, which for Seattle residents is the Duwamish. Additionally, please become a Real Renter to support the Duwamish directly.
Action: Pay Real Rent
Real Rent Duwamish is a grassroots organization that calls on people living in occupied Duwamish territory to stand in solidarity with First Peoples by signing up to pay rent (of any amount) to the Duwamish people. The money goes directly to Duwamish Tribe Services. Sign up to be a Real Renter here: https://realrentduwamish.org
