Daily action for November 18th, 2022
On Wednesday, Republicans won the House majority, giving the GOP a large amount of power to block Democrats’ agenda for the next two years. It will come as no shock to learn that Republicans will do everything in their power to aggressively stall progress and unilaterally increase their hold on power by hurting civil rights and liberties of American citizens. Democrats must take advantage of the time before the inauguration of the next Congress to achieve our policy goals!
One of the biggest weapons in the House Republicans’ arsenal will be the power to hold the debt-ceiling hostage and force the first debt default in U.S. history. They are already considering using the fiscal deadline as a leverage point to make cuts to Medicaid and Social Security. We need to prevent Republicans from sending us into another Great Depression by acting while we still have time.
ACTION: Contact your House representative and urge them to pass a bill increasing the debt ceiling!
