Ending the filibuster is critical for achieving any of our progressive goals during this Congress. Without it, we won’t be able to pass voter protections to prevent Republicans in many states from suppressing the vote and cementing minority rule in the United States for many years to come. The stakes couldn’t be higher.

Today’s action is to tell our Senators that we want the filibuster ended now.

Action 1: Tell Senator Cantwell at her Town Hall today at Noon that you want her to end the filibuster, in full

Senator Cantwell is hosting a Town Hall today at noon. She doesn’t do these often, so this is a unique opportunity to get the message to her.

Senator Cantwell has come out in favor of a “standing filibuster” which would allow a senator to block legislation for only as long as they can stand and talk without a break. While this is better than the current system where they can block legislation with virtually no effort, it is still a needless mechanism to slow down work in the Senate, and prevent the will of the people from being executed in a timely manner. It’s not good enough.
