Last Thursday, the House of Representatives passed the Protecting Our Democracy Act on a near-party line vote of 220 to 208, sending the bill on to the Senate. This bill would curb presidential powers, require presidential candidates to disclose their tax returns, and strengthen the emoluments clause of the Constitution, among many other provisions.
Of course, with the filibuster still in place in the Senate, this bill has no chance of passing into law. That’s why we need our senators to fight hard to end the filibuster…or at least to carve out a pro-democracy exception to the anti-democratic, Jim Crow-era filibuster.

Hi, my name is {NAME}, and I live in {CITY, ZIP}. Last week, the House passed the Protecting Our Democracy Act, which would place many critical curbs on presidential powers. Without filibuster reform, this bill will never pass the Senate, but our democracy will not survive without this legislation. That’s why I need you to convince your pro-filibuster colleagues to carve out a pro-democracy exception and pass this bill.
