State Actions Roundup, and Attend a Town Hall

Official Daily Action for Thursday, February 19, 2026

These are four quick sign in/comment actions, followed by a list of upcoming state town halls!

From FUSE: Thank your senator for passing the Millionaire’s Tax through the state senate: https://actionnetwork.org/letters/thank-your-senator-for-voting-to-pass-the-millionaires-tax

From WA Coalition on Homelessnes: Sign in PRO to Promote Housing Fairness through HB 2266 before 9:30 a.m. this Fri, Feb 20 at https://app.leg.wa.gov/csi/Testifier/Add?chamber=Senate&mId=33953&aId=170834&caId=28340&tId=3

Why this bill is hugely important to housing justice: Too often local governments unfairly slow or block new supportive housing, transitional housing, or shelter through discriminatory zoning and land use regulations. These practices that restrict siting, operations, or who can be served are not applied to people who will rent market rate apartments or stay in hotels. HB 2266 (sponsored by Rep. Peterson, LD-21) would take a big step forward for housing fairness. It would ensure local governments treat all kinds of housing (apartments, supportive housing, etc.) and temporary lodging (hotels and shelters) fairly through siting and permitting processes, regardless of who will live there, or how they pay their rent. This bill would pave the way to create more supportive housing and shelter that communities across Washington state need.

From Faith Action Network (bill also supported by WAISN): Support SB 5906 (Hansen) – Secure and Accountable Federal Enforcement (SAFE) Act.

Expands protections to ensure immigration enforcement does not disrupt schools, health care facilities, and other sensitive locations without proper legal authority. February 20 @ 10:30 AM in the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee.

Sign in PRO: https://app.leg.wa.gov/csi/Testifier/Add?chamber=House&mId=33980&aId=170747&caId=28334&tId=3

From QLAW, oppose HB 1834 / SB 5708 “Protecting Washington Children Online”

Status: Passed House & Senate Committees

What they do: Would restrict online content in ways that risk categorizing LGBTQIA+ resources as harmful material.

Why it matters: Could cut youth off from lifesaving information and community support.

QLaw Position: OPPOSE

Take Action: Contact legislators and explain why queer youth need access to information and support
