Advance State AG Police Investigations bill

Official Daily Action for January 29, 2026

The following comes from the Washington Coalition for Police Accountability:

The Attorney General Investigations bill (SB 5925) is scheduled for executive session in the Senate Committee on Law & Justice on Thursday, January 29. Contact the Democrats on the committee and urge them to vote to advance the bill.

This bill would give the Attorney General pre-litigation subpoena powers or a CID (Civil Investigative Demand) of any private or public entity (such as a police department or sheriff’s office) where there has been credible civil rights violations of the federal or state constitution.

WCPA urges you to email or call (1-800-562-6000) the Democrats on the Law & Justice Committee to help advance the bill:

Manka Dhingra (LD-45, chair from Redmond area): [email protected]

Yasmin Trudeau (LD-27, vice chair & bill sponsor from Tacoma): [email protected]

Javier Valdez (LD-46, northeast Seattle): [email protected]

John Lovick (LD-44, Lake Stevens): [email protected]

Jesse Salomon (LD-32, Shoreline): [email protected]
