Authoritarian Republicans are attempting to permanently lock Democrats out of power on Trump’s orders with an unprecedented mid-decade redrawing of Congressional maps. California can mitigate the damage by passing a ballot measure that will allow them to redistrict in response.
California voters are sympathetic to the cause, but will be facing a deep-pocketed right-wing campaign to convince them it is somehow unfair. Our job is to reach voters directly and remind them of the stakes. We still support non-partisan map-drawing, but only if it is passed on a national level – we cannot disarm unilaterally!
