On June 14th at 12pm, Seattle Indivisible (along with 50501, Planned Parenthood, Defund Musk, Common Power and other area Indivisible groups) is co-hosting the NoKings! rally and march to Seattle Center!
June 14th is Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. He is celebrating by staging a military parade. Other autocrats get big military displays, so Trump wants to act like a dictator, too. His cover? It’s the 250th anniversary of the army (also the Navy and the Marines, but they are not included in this extravaganza).
Quoting Tuesday’s Thom Hartmann article, “No Kings! Day isn’t just a rally. It’s a declaration. That we will not be ruled by strongmen. That we do not recognize the Trump family as royalty. That we believe in the power of the people and the promise of our republic.”
Trump’s “parade” will cost somewhere between $25-45 million. The cost for No Kings! is nowhere near that figure, but hosting an event this big is a huge undertaking.
