Official Daily Action for Wednesday, November 5th, 2025
Summary:
> The White House is using Microsoft gaming IP to promote ICE and thinly-veiled hateful rhetoric.
> Microsoft’s Game Pass subscription service presents an easy target for immediate action.
> Microsoft is financially motivated rather than ideologically aligned with Trump, making it vulnerable to a boycott.
Why boycott?
On October 27th and 28th, the official White House twitter account shared AI-generated imagery drawn from Microsoft’s Halo video game series to promote ICE and to depict the president as a heroic figure.
Halo is a major Microsoft property and has not yet made any kind of statement or denunciation of this usage. Some of the original creators of the series called the image abhorrent, similar to the other creatives and artists whose work was co-opted for this type of propaganda and who requested that it be taken down.
As a subscription service, it is easy for people to cancel immediately, and easy for Microsoft to see the scale of the impact immediately. Remember how mass cancellations of Disney+ subscriptions helped reinstate Jimmy Kimmel.
ACTION: If you have a Microsoft Game Pass subscription, cancel it!
SCRIPT to answer any question about why you are cancelling your subscription:
“I am cancelling my Game Pass subscription because you, Microsoft, did not object when the official White House twitter account shared AI-generated imagery drawn from the Halo video game series. This imagery promotes ICE. Microsoft must investigate whether this use violates its own community standards regarding hate and violence. You must threaten legal action over this use of your IP. You must publish a strongly-worded statement condemning the messaging of the ICE post. Don’t let X “borrow” images from your games to promote the ICE agenda.”
