Yes, SNAP is back in play, at least for November. The food situation is still difficult for the many people who rely on the program, and food banks are still under strain. Some have seen double-digit increases up to 60% since SNAP benefits were halted.
Food banks are not the solution, but they can help. One of Indivisible’s goals is promoting a just and equitable society. Donating to food banks is a way to support mutual aid! We will continue to target areas of Seattle each week with specific food banks to send support their way.
We always wonder – is this working? Is this effective? How do we know if our “asks” are generating the results we want? Help us answer this question by noting “Seattle Indivisible” or “SI” in the comment or tribute section of the donation page. We will ask each food bank to count the number of “SI” donations received (absolutely NO personal information will be asked for or shared). This note will let us know if these actions are useful.
