Welcome Back, Governor Ferguson: Make a Plan for ICE & Military Deployments

Official Daily Action for Thursday, October 9, 2025

The Situation:

Governor Ferguson has been out of the state for a couple of weeks, but is returning October 9. In that timeframe, the Trump regime has escalated ICE and military deployments to blue cities and threats to suppress dissent. We would like the Governor to return to a sense that a) large numbers of constituents are concerned about this; b) plans to protect immigrants and civil rights are essential; and c) public messaging to undermine the regime’s framing is essential.

The Ask:

1) Reach out to Governor Ferguson about these concerns. For constituent contact, expressing your concerns in your own words (even if they’re not comprehensive or perfect) is most effective. Telephone contact may be slightly more effective than using a web form, but what is most important is that you make contact.

Telephone contact: 360-902-4111

Web form contact: https://governor.wa.gov/contacting-governor/contacting-governors-office/send-gov-ferguson-e-message

2) Reach out to your friends and network and encourage them to do the same. Either forward this message or text them.

Sample text message (modify as you wish): Governor Ferguson is returning from out of state on October 9. We’d like to welcome him with a wave of concern about military and ICE deployments. Please reach out by phone at 360-902-4111 or https://governor.wa.gov/contacting-governor/contacting-governors-office/send-gov-ferguson-e-message Your message should be about anything that genuinely concerns you: brutality to immigrants, racial profiling in ICE enforcement, ICE masking, ICE lawlessness, the need for stronger public messaging–whatever is top of mind for you.

Need Some Inspiration for Your Message?

Here are some sample talking points. Pick 1 or 2 that speak to you and modify them to make your point.

-We need you to both take a stand and carry the message against this, and do practical things behind the scenes.

-I’m scared and angry.

-Your public messaging is really important here. This isn’t an earthquake. It requires more than a disaster plan.

-The President is threatening to let the military “train on” cities.

We need to see a unified response to this that addresses both the substance and the politics.

-ICE has been brutalizing immigrants and protestors. Now they’re trying to define anyone who speaks out against them as “domestic terrorists.” I feel like they’ve declared war on core liberties. Where is the state on this? Where are our localities? We need unified pushback and a unified plan.

-I need you to work with other blue states and use every lever of power.

-This is partly a narrative battle. You need to seize the narrative.

-During the first months of COVID, Jay Inslee was out in front of the people at least weekly, treating COVID like the crisis it was. We are now being targeted by our own military, and we need that kind of energy, presence, and plan, to know that you are doing everything you can to protect us.

-Where is the Bob Ferguson who showed up at SeaTac Airport when the Muslim ban came down? We need that guy.

-Why isn’t Washington state passing a law that prohibits ICE agents from covering their faces? Why aren’t we prosecuting lawless ICE agents for state crimes?

-Ordinary citizens are working every day to prepare our communities for federal occupation and our top politicians should be leading the charge.

-Join Pritzker and Newsom in pressuring the National Governors Association to condemn the invasion of our cities.
