Official Daily Action
Today we have four calls to action in order of time-sensitivity – most of them can be completed in one or two clicks! And remember that state sign-ins to committee hearings do not require you to testify – we are just registering our support or opposition to the bill for the committee.
1) Sign in “pro” for SB 5115 by Thursday 1/16 at 12:30 p.m. – the bill establishes a Washington Dream Act service incentive program, so that undocumented students in higher education have access to the same financial support as their documented peers. Follow this link: https://app.leg.wa.gov/csi/Senate?selectedCommittee=28242&selectedMeeting=32369
2) From 350 Seattle: Sign in “pro” by Friday to HB 1135. Over the past four years, the Growth Management Act has added new requirements for housing affordability and climate change in local comprehensive plans. This bill would close a loophole that that allows cities and counties to not comply with these provisions. https://app.leg.wa.gov/csi/Testifier/Add?chamber=house&mId=32403&aId=161202&caId=24672&tId=3
3) From the WA Low-Income Housing Alliance: email your lawmakers using this form to support bills for affordable housing, rent stabilization, homelessness services, and low-income tenant representation: https://secure.everyaction.com/3–TumIOZkOQs2owYfJsDg2
4) Call your FEDERAL Senators to oppose the anti-immigrant Laken-Riley Act (explanation inside the link): https://indivisible.org/resource/tell-your-democratic-senator-vote-no-s-5-laken-riley-act
CORRECTION to yesterday’s email: Our upcoming rally is Tuesday, January 21 at noon: https://www.mobilize.us/seattleindivisible/event/748087/
