Overlapping crises prove we need more climate action

As Seattle chokes on this year’s first round of wildfire smoke, Mexico, Southern California and the Southwest face the devastation of Hurricane Hilary, the first hurricane to make landfall there in recorded history.

The Inflation Reduction Act, signed into law just over a year ago, is kicking off a huge investment in renewable energy production here in the United States, but that will not address the human costs of the climate crises that are rapidly becoming our new normal.

We need our federal representatives to help everyday people mitigate the on-the-ground effects on the climate crisis.

I’m a constituent in living in {CITY, ZIP}. While I am choking on wildfire smoke here, millions of Americans are dealing with an unprecedented flooding crisis from Hurricane Hilary in California and the Southwest. We need you to propose legislative solutions capable of mitigating the climate crisis for everyday Americans: clean air and water, flood protection, and other basic necessities must be available to everyone—especially as the unprecedented becomes the new normal.
