As we celebrate Pride Month, it is disheartening to witness the introduction of an even more draconian version of Uganda’s infamous ‘Kill the Gays’ Bill. This bill, which has received international condemnation, poses a grave threat to the LGBTQ+ community in Uganda and their fundamental human rights. According to the New York Times, the bill “threatens punishment as severe as death for some perceived offenses, and calls for life in prison for anyone engaging in same-sex relations.”
It is crucial that we stand in solidarity with our fellow activists and urge our elected officials to take immediate action.
Today, we are urging you to contact both Senators and your Representative, to express our concerns about the ‘Kill the Gays’ Bill in Uganda. We implore them to use their positions of influence to put pressure on Uganda’s government, explore avenues for supporting Ugandans fleeing persecution, and speak out publicly against this gross violation of human rights.
