The state is facing a loss of up to 50% of funds dedicated to addressing homelessness. Because of the slowdown in real estate activity, document-recording fee collection is much lower than expected. This is the state’s main source of funding for all homelessness services. If the operating budget doesn’t make up the difference, every county in the state will experience a significant reduction in homelessness funding starting this July. With a growing crisis and an already underfunded homelessness prevention sector, cuts are unacceptable.

Solving homelessness and the affordable housing crisis will take investments that match the scale of the challenge. The final budgets must include the bold investments we need.
