SSB 5536 has a public hearing Saturday, February 18th @ 9:00 am in the Senate Ways and Means Committee. This bill re-criminalizes substance possession and leaves substance use disorder treatment in the hands of prosecutors and the court, instead of health providers.
85% of Washingtonians believe that substance use disorder should be treated as a public health disorder, not a criminal justice issue.
