Official Daily Action for January 20th, 2023
The Washington legislature’s Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee is considering House Bill 1025, a bill allowing victims of police violations to pursue legal recourse against officers. This bill would remove the federal shield of qualified immunity that currently defends law enforcement officials from consequences if they violate an individual’s constitutional rights or cause harm.
Passage of this bill would encourage police accountability, improve officer training, and finally recognize that police officers are not above the law.
ACTION: Sign in “Pro” to the House Civil Rights & Judiciary Committee’s public hearing on HB 1025 to hold police accountable.
