Official Daily Action for Tuesday, July 19, 2022
Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia has yet again reneged on a deal that centered on climate and healthcare, torpedoing efforts for climate legislation before the midterm election. We cannot afford to wait for a fickle Senator to change his mind time and again on legislation to deal with the climate crisis, a crisis that already affects the entire world. Today’s daily action is to contact President Joe Biden and urge him to keep his promise and take decisive action to address climate change.

Hello President Biden, my name is [NAME] and I live in Seattle. I urge you to work with Senator Sheldon Whitehouse to develop executive actions to deal with the current climate crisis. It is abundantly clear that we cannot wait to make deals with Senator Manchin, whose only measure of his reliability is his penchant for changing his mind at the last minute. I urge you to take executive action to: require carbon capture from all major emitters, enact stricter limits on CO-pollutants from coal and gas fired power plants, center lower emissions in procurement (e.g. electrify USPS) and call out corporations that block climate action in Congress. There is much to be done and we need bold action to do it. Stop talking and negotiating and DEAL WITH THE CLIMATE CRISIS.
