Official Daily Action for Tuesday, December 6, 2022
The past two weeks have seen snow and extremely cold weather, yet the city insists on continuing its destructive, cruel, and harmful sweeps throughout such inhospitable conditions. In fact, Stop the Sweeps Seattle knows of at least THREE sweeps happening on Tuesday alone. Today’s daily action is to keep up the pressure and call Seattle’s City Council to yet again proclaim: SERVICES, NOT SWEEPS.
As a bonus action, get involved in mutual aid! There are mutual aid groups throughout the city providing food and essential survival gear for the houseless community in different neighborhoods. There is much work to do, and your help is needed. There will be a list of mutual aid groups below.

Hello, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in District [NUMBER]. I am contacting you to say that I do not support encampment sweeps and to ask you to do what you can to stop the endless barrage of sweeps in Seattle. The weather outside is cold and rainy, yet sweeps continue in these inhospitable conditions. Sweeps are inhumane and so are the people who continue to perpetrate them. Sweeps destroy the community and the property of extremely vulnerable people, while doing nothing to remedy the problem of people living unhoused. Instead of sweeping encampments, we should be working toward permanent, supportive housing.
