Official Daily Action for Tuesday, October 25, 2022
Mayor Bruce Harrell’s proposed budget for 2023 gives more funds to the Seattle Police Department than the following departments COMBINED: Human Services Department, Seattle Public Library, Neighborhoods, Economic Development, and more. In contrast, the Solidarity Budget would cut police funding in half to fund things like social housing, participatory budgeting, affordable housing, a Green New Deal, and more.
City Council is meeting again Tuesday, October 25th, and today’s daily action, from the Solidarity Budget and Decriminalize Seattle, is to sign up for remote public comment and tell them you support the Solidarity Budget! Public comment is at 9:30 am, but sign-ups start at 7:30am. If you can’t make it to public comment, you can call and email City Council too!
