Official Daily Action for Tuesday, October 10, 2022
Mayor Bruce Harrell’s 2023 budget proposal is FULL of issues. The proposal includes $1 million for an Orwellian, racist, and ineffective gunshot surveillance technology called ShotSpotter that has led to police murders and wrongful convictions in other cities. It includes raises, bonuses, and overtime pay for police while gutting pay for human service workers. It provides tens of millions of dollars across multiple departments funding the continued sweeping of our unhoused neighbors. Mayor Harrell’s budget is an affront to our values and we must speak up against it. Today’s daily action, from Decriminalize Seattle is to tell Seattle City Council to fund REAL solutions by supporting the Solidarity Budget.
