Democracy is hanging on by a tenuous thread here in America, no thanks to the GOP which is actively working to undermine the rule of law. About 70% of rank and file Republicans believe that President Biden only won the 2020 election due to voter fraud. To be clear, this is a lie and there is no evidence to back up the claim. President Trump’s big lie is being used to justify state-level voter suppression laws across the country.
The state legislatures in Iowa, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and Montana all have plans to pass or have passed new laws designed to limit voter participation. All based on a lie!
This is the most serious assault on democracy in our history and we need our MoCs to take action to defend democracy. Attempts to suppress votes are unjust. These laws directly discriminate based on race. Fewer votes from Black and Brown people will be accepted in 2022. Legislation to restore voting rights must be signed into law. Just looking at the politics of it, we won’t stand a chance in 2022 as things stand.
The Senate must pass the For the People Act, the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, and finally grant statehood to Washington DC.

Should the GOP’s unprecedented attack on voting rights across the country go unanswered, the GOP will surely win power back in the House, Senate or both in 2022. The Republican Party even decided to purge Rep. Liz Cheney just for speaking the truth. Failure to act would be the equivalent of our Senators surrendering. Will Senator [NAME] defend democracy?
