On Tuesday, the For the People act went to Committee, and as expected Republicans attempted to obstruct at every step. This Act is crucial to the state of our Democracy – passing it will help protect the right to vote from racist voter suppression laws that have recently been pushed through numerous state legislatures.
This bill is going to be a 50-50 vote in the Senate along party lines, and for it to pass it is going to take a loud upwelling of support to pressure Democrats to keep pushing and to pressure Republicans to stop obstructing.
ACTION 1: Call your senators in support of the For the People act
Both of our Senators support the act already, but calling allows them to add your name to the tally of people who’ve contacted their office in support of the bill. The higher the tally, the stronger their position looks.

Script:
“Hi, my name is [NAME] and I am calling from [PLACE] to say thank you for supporting the For the People Act. It is crucial to our democracy, and I hope [Senator] will do everything she can to make sure it passes.”
ACTION 2: Connect Arizonans to their senators

You can participate in this phonebank whenever works for your schedule and for however long you want – their website walks you through the steps to get started!
