OFFICIAL DAILY ACTION FOR Thursday, October 13th, 2021
Today’s Action comes from Fuse, a grassroots organization focused on advancing progressive statewide initiatives. New state legislative and congressional maps from the Washington State Redistricting Committee have been released: however, the districts proposed by Republican commissioners Paul Graves and Joe Fain are a blatant attempt to swing election cycles in their party’s favor. This transparent gerrymandering by Fain and Graves threatens to disrupt the voting power of cities, disenfranchise people of color, and divide communities. The final maps go to the state legislature for approval on November 15th, and we have until that date to rally support for Democratic commissioners April Sims’ and Brady Piñero Walkinshaw’s maps.
