The Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice have issued a draft rule which, by adding several unnecessary barriers, would make it effectively impossible to seek asylum in the United States.

This rule was filed in the Federal Register on June 15, and the government is required to solicit and review comments collected over the next 30 days (until July 15).
ACTION: Write a comment in opposition to the draft asylum rule.
The American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has a form letter available where you can submit your comment in opposition to this rule. Remember that while this is a form comment, we suggest only using it as a starting point, because unique comments often receive greater attention. You can use this as a start, and then add your own reasons or your personal story.
