We are making an impact: Seattle Indivisible volunteers have now written almost 2,000 “Get Out the Vote” letters to critical red-to-blue swing state voters, through the SwingLeft/VoteForward Letter Writing Program! With the future of door-to-door canvassing uncertain, these letters could tip the balance of the race to the Senate and the White House.
Join us in our next session of GOTV letter-writing! You can do this from home. We will be writing encouraging letters to infrequent voters in states like Pennsylvania and Michigan, getting prepared for the fall. We will also be treated to a live performance by songwriter-activist Tae Phoenix as we write!
OUR ACTION TODAY: SIGN UP AND JOIN US FOR THIS REMOTE EVENT:
Write Letters to Swing State Voters with Seattle Indivisible – with live music from Tae Phoenix!
Tuesday, June 9, 5:30 – 7:30pm
RSVP: https://www.mobilize.us/swingleft/event/275084/
During the video hangout, we will all introduce ourselves, explain the SwingLeft process to those who are unfamiliar, and hear some live music! We will then hang out as a community as we write.
To prepare for the party, you will need Forever stamps (you can order from USPS.com) and standard letter-sized envelopes. If you have your own printer, you will need to download and print your letters using the following instructions: https://swingleft.org/p/about-swing-left-letter-writing. If you DON’T have access to a printer, we also have pre-printed letters we can send to you – email us at [email protected] to request them or ask us for help!
When your letters are finished DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE MAIL. Store them safely in your house and mark your calendar to put them in the mail on October 27, 2020! That’s one week before the general election, the optimal time for voters to receive this reminder.
Together we can help SwingLeft and VoteForward with their huge new goal of ten *million* letters! You can watch their progress here: https://votefwd.org/bigsend
ALTERNATIVE ACTION: Write and store 20 letters on your own
If you can’t join us for the party or would prefer to write on your own time, you can either go straight to votefwd.org and start downloading letters yourself, OR send an email to [email protected] and we will guide you through the process (whether or not you have a printer!).
When you finish a pile of letters, remember to email [email protected] to let us know so we can add it to the volunteer count!
