Since becoming interim E.P.A. Administrator in July 2018, Andrew Wheeler has done a lot of damage. He has replaced the Clean Power Plan with weaker rules that independent analysts have said will actually make emissions worse. He has proposed reversing Obama’s clean car standards. He has rolled back the “Waters of the United States” rule, which protects our waterways from pollution. He has consistently put the greed of big business over the health and safety of our environment.
Now Trump has nominated him to be the official E.P.A. Administrator, and yesterday was his confirmation hearing. The Senate is expected to vote to confirm his appointment as early as next month.
ACTION: Say No to Wheeler
Let’s call our senators and tell them to make statements against Wheeler’s appointment and to do whatever they can to get him out of E.P.A. leadership.
Sen. Patty Murray–DC 202-224-2621; Seattle 206-553-5545
Sen. Maria Cantwell–DC 202-224-3441; Seattle 206-220-6400

“Hi, my name is [NAME] and I am calling from [LOCATION] in reaction to yesterday’s confirmation hearing of Andrew Wheeler for E.P.A. Administrator. Since becoming interim Administrator, Wheeler has consistently valued the greed of big business over the health and safety of our environment. A former coal lobbyist focused on deregulation should not be at the head of the Environmental Protection Agency. Please make a public statement opposing his appointment and do whatever you can to stop his appointment to E.P.A. Administrator. Thank you.”
