Time is running out. #HandsOffIX

Last month, we asked you to comment against Betsy DeVos’ proposed Title IX changes. The proposed changes will harm the rights of sexual assault survivors, and make schools a more dangerous place.

With the deadline approaching on January 28, we want to make sure you have enough time to prepare your comments. Sen. Patty Murray and Rep. Rosa DeLauro have sent a letter to the Department of Education asking them to extend the comment period. Without knowing if the Department of Education will grant an extension, the best we can do is remind you early to prepare your comments.

Action: Submit comments in opposition to new proposed Title IX regulations.

Know your IX and End Rape On Campus (EROC) have provided a website with more detailed information with background on what exactly this new rule does, and how to write an effective comment. Go to https://www.handsoffix.org/ to learn more and to help prepare your comments, and go to https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2018/11/29/2018-25314/nondiscrimination-on-the-basis-of-sex-in-education-programs-or-activities-receiving-federal to submit your comments.

Additionally, if you are affiliated with or have students in a K-12 school or university, we encourage you to ask your institution to submit a comment as well.
