Support the National Prison Strike Locally!

In solidarity with the National Prison Strike, more than 200 immigrants who are currently detained at the Northwest Detention Center (NWDC) in Tacoma announced on Tuesday that they were joining the strike. The immigrants at NWDC are on a hunger strike and work stoppage in response to the call for a national prison strike in the U.S.

This is their third hunger strike in 2018!

Their demands boil down to just wanting to be treated humanely:

  • -Basic medical care for detainees.
  • -End the practice of forced labor and guarantee minimum wage for work provided.
  • -Allow visitation of relatives.

ICE is claiming there is no hunger strike going on at NWDC, but the picture attached is part of a letter released by the Northwest Detention Center Resistance. It is from an immigrant detained at NWDC and is part of the list of demands.

ACTION: Call ICE now and demand

  1. 1) ICE meet the hunger strikers’ demands
  2. 2) GEO not retaliate against hunger strikers.
