We’ve asked you to contact King County Council a few times already to ask that they agree to fund pre-paid postage on mail-in ballots. A small scale experiment last year showed that prepaid postage increased voter participation by 6-10%. The County Council was poised to approve the decision this week, but was asked to postpone by Secretary of State Kim Wyman.
Wyman wants King County to wait for a 2019 bill that would offer prepaid postage in all WA counties – but this is too important to delay. Passage in King County will only make passage of a statewide bill more imperative.
The decision is now set for next week – let’s tell the County Council to stick to their plan!
