Official Daily Action for Friday, May 25
Democrats and moderate Republicans in the House of Representatives are five signatures away from forcing a vote on bipartisan legislation to create a path to legal status and perhaps for Dreamers, brought to the U.S. as children. If they succeed it will be a clear rebuke to Paul Ryan and the hard-right GOP.
Our Representatives, Adam Smith (WA CD9) and Pramila Jayapal (WA CD7), have signed the “discharge petition” to force a vote on Dreamers, as has retiring Republican Congressman Dave Reichert (WA CD8). All deserve thanks for bucking the anti-immigrant tide and keeping the Dream alive.
ACTION: Call our Representatives, and thank them for fighting for Dreamers.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal–DC 202-225-3106; Seattle 206-674-0040
Rep. Adam Smith–DC 202-225-8901; Renton 425-793-5180
SUGGESTED SCRIPT:
Hi, my name is [NAME], and I’m calling from [CITY, ZIP]. I want to thank [NAME] for signing on to the discharge petition to finally bring bills creating a path to citizenship for Dreamers to the House floor. I know [NAME] will continue to fight for fair and comprehensive immigration reform.
Bonus Action: Call friends and family in the 8th CD (Reichert) and ask them to thank Dave Reichert for standing up to Ryan and Trump.
Rep Dave Reichert – DC (202) 225-7761; Issaquah (425) 677-7414
