While Trump travels abroad, and the Russian connection investigation grinds on, the Administration and its Republican enablers continue to work against the everyday interests of ordinary Americans. In today’s actions we ask our representatives to denounce the cruel Trump budget, and to urge “persuadable” Republican Senators to oppose Trumpcare.
Action 1: Repudiate the Trump budget
If a budget is a moral document, the budget proposed this week by the Trump Administration is a document of moral depravity. The Administration proposes to cut a staggering $627 billion from Medicaid, $345 billion from education $194 billion from food stamps and $87 billion from the National Institutes for Health among many other devastating cuts, while reducing taxes for the wealthy and for corporations. While the proposal is unlikely to be adopted by in its current form, its priorities are so skewed that our representatives must reject it outright.

Action 2: Fight Trumpcare in the Senate by reaching out to red state friends and families
The AHCA can only afford to lose the support of two Senate Republicans before it is tanked. With the release of Congressional Budget Office analysis today, we know that the AHCA reflects our worst expectations. The number of Americans without health coverage will increase by 14 million next year and 23 million in 2026. Furthermore, it states that “people who are less healthy (including those with preexisting or newly acquired medical conditions) would ultimately be unable to purchase comprehensive nongroup health insurance at premiums comparable to those under current law, if they could purchase it at all.”
Hopefully Senate Republican can be convinced to vote against this unpopular legislation. David Leonhardt reports that the following Senators are susceptible to persuasion.
