Why are we protesting?
NO KINGS is a peaceful, national day of action — a mass mobilization of everyday Americans determined to stop the rising fascism and corruption of the Trump administration. Working people across the country don’t want their taxpayer dollars used to target and harm innocent people. They want healthcare, affordable groceries, and to feel safe going for a walk in their neighborhood without fearing they’ll be abducted off the street by Trump’s masked agents.
● Americans bow to no kings. But President Trump wants to be a fascist
dictator. Trump seeks to silence all voices but his. He’s using executive orders, intimidation, and the full force of the federal government, to crush
dissent—seeking to control what schools teach, restrict what news we hear, and weaponize the Department of Justice against his critics. He has launched illegal and corrupt wars and military actions to further consolidate his power.
● Trump’s MAGA regime is starting to crack. He’s losing in court on multiple fronts and his illegal war is wildly unpopular. As public defiance grows, the Trump administration is ramping up its cruelty – but the people, with the shining example of Minneapolis, continue to demonstrate that neighbors supporting neighbors is one of our strongest forms of resistance.
● Neighbors Fighting Fascism: ICE Out. This regime is targeting immigrants and citizens with excessive and unconstitutional force. Throughout Seattle and Washington state, local organizers are developing neighborhood networks and hyper-local community groups built to resist the MAGA regime’s authoritarian overreach, and actively developing the tools and strategies we’ll need to successfully fight fascism.
● We must keep fighting back: Our mass protest demonstrates that we the
people will stand up for our neighbors and for our democracy. We are rising
together in numbers that cannot be ignored. It’s time for all of us to gather
together in even greater numbers, and then build the very local community
power we’ll need to fight Trump’s fascist takeover.
Action is the antidote to fascism. Authoritarians rely on apathy and fear. We will not be silent. We will speak up. We will march!
