LOCAL
Please join NDLON for a workshop and conversation on how to Adopt a Day Labor Corner in Washington State. Come and make a plan for how to show up in person, nonviolently, with courage, with love, and with urgency for our immigrant neighbors.
Now is the moment learn and gain:
– A deeper understanding of the day laborer community and why now is the moment to stand with our community
– Simple and clear instructions on how to “Adopt” a day labor corner
– Tips and ideas for coordination and next steps
– Resources to support you and your team
– Ideas on how to go beyond the day laborer corner
– Opportunity to connect with others in Washington and find your local team
ACTION 1: Register and attend!
Thursday, April 2
6 – 7:30pm PDT
Virtual event – Join from anywhere
Can’t make the meeting? You can still sign up to adopt a day laborer corner or join the “adopt a school” program.
DILLEY, TEXAS
Take a stand against the atrocious conditions at Dilley Immigration Processing Center!
There a number of actions possible listed at:
tinyurl.com/dilleybabies
Why? Read the Mother Jones article:
Wormy Food, Intimidating Guards, Sick Kids: Inside ICE’s Only Family Detention Center
Right now, there is a two-year old who is sick and not getting adequate care.
ACTION 2: Choose one or all of the actions listed on the website – call or write your members of congress, call the company that owns Dilley. A big ask is that if you have any money to give, please donate to Each Step Home’s commissary fund – this enables parents to buy clean water for their kids, extra snacks, etc. in detention.
