Sabey Corporation is leasing new offices in Tukwila to ICE/DHS. Critics say the space will be used as an illegal detention center. Although Tukwila City Council passed a six-month emergency moratorium that blocks expanding ICE detention centers and new construction within the city, but the measure did not ban ICE from leasing office building.
The newly proposed ICE facility at Riverfront Technical Park is currently zoned for manufacturing and industrial use. Using it as a detention facility violates the Tukwila moratorium, and the city could start implementing code enforcement.
