OFFICIAL DAILY ACTION FOR Tuesday, March 13th!: Affordable housing actions from the WA Low Income Housing Alliance
Thank you to our friends at the WA Low Income Housing Alliance for today’s Daily Action:
We continue to seek organizational allies to sign on to a budget support letter while the Senate continues its work on the budget. The letter urges legislators to support the Housing Alliance budget priorities, including the need for the legislature to include $160 million in its final budget to prevent cuts to homeless services. Without this investment, homeless services could be cut by up to 50% this year – something we cannot accept.
A number of key support bills have hearings scheduled this week, along with opportunities for everyone to sign in PRO to let lawmakers know there is solid support for the legislation. We recommend signing in pro on all today, but have included the deadlines to sign in below.
SB 5197/Kuderer, which fixes the eviction process so that tenants have access to rental assistance to keep their housing, is scheduled for a hearing in the House Housing Committee on March 14 at 4pm.
