We believe that a healthy democracy depends on free and fair elections. Sounds basic, right? Of course, the past few years have shown that free and fair elections don’t just happen by accident — they happen when the officials who run our elections step up to protect them. To support that effort, Vote Forward and Stand Up America are joining forces to write letters focused on this year’s secretary of state race in Nevada, starting now.

Secretaries of state hold an immense degree of power over how elections are conducted. In Nevada’s election, where Cisco Aguilar is running a close race against a Trump-endorsed candidate who has previously made false claims of voter fraud, democracy really is on the line. Our letters will help inform voters about their choices, and remind them how important their votes will be in this crucial battleground race.
