Official Daily Action for Tuesday, March 15th, 2022
Early last week, the Muslim American Youth Foundation (MAYF) in Burien was the target of a hit-and-run where a car sped through the parking lot outside the community center and rammed into the center’s prayer room. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, as the only person in the building at the time, Dr. Yahya Suufi, was not in that room. Islamophobia is rampant, with this incident being the fourth attack on Islamic centers in Western Washington in just the last five months. Other attacks have included someone setting fire to the Islamic Center of Tacoma and someone throwing an explosive device into the Islamic Center of Olympia. This type of bigotry and violence should have no place in our communities. Today’s daily action is to show support for the Muslim American Youth Foundation by attending the Multi-Faith Solidarity Gathering on Wednesday, March 16th.
