Today’s action is for Adam Smith constituents. This week the New York Times reported on Pentagon efforts to cover up a U.S. anti-ISIS strike in Syria that killed 80 people, including dozens of civilians, and was flagged by a Pentagon lawyer as a possible war crime.
In response, Rep. Adam Smith told the Times that ‘both the incident and the efforts to cover it up are deeply disturbing’ and announced that the House Armed Services Committee would open an investigation. That is exactly what we would ask him to do, so we should thank him for it.
ACTION: If Adam Smith is your representative, call and thank him for opening an investigation into the 2019 Syria strike and coverup.

Script (for Smith):
“My name is [NAME] from [City, zip]. I want to thank Rep. Smith for opening an investigation into the 2019 Task Force 9 strike in Syria that killed 80 people and was covered up by the Pentagon. We need accountability for this possible war crime, and we need to dismantle the ‘War on Terror’ infrastructure that allows these types of reckless plane and drone strikes to continue.”
