Impeach Acosta, then Impeach Trump

Democrats on the hill are calling for Labor Secretary Alex Acosta’s resignation due to his role in keeping Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender who was recently arrested for child trafficking, out of jail. In 2008, when he was U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, he brokered a plea deal that led to Epstein serving only 13 months in jail after being accused of sexually abusing dozens of young women and children. During those 13 months, Epstein was allowed to leave the jail six days a week to work as a money manager. “This is an appalling example of what happens when powerful men protect one another and allow cycles of abuse to continue without any consequences,” Senator Murray said in a tweet yesterday.

Senator Pelosi has publicly agreed: Acosta should resign. The House has the power to impeach the Labor Secretary, but Pelosi has made it clear that although she thinks he should go, she does not plan on impeaching him. Perhaps because impeaching Acosta for his role in protecting a sexual abuser begs the question: why impeach him but not President Trump, who himself has been accused of sexual assault by 16 different women?

Call your representatives and tell them: we elected Democrats to the House for a reason. Ask them to do their job of congressional oversight, and impeach both Acosta and Trump.

ACTION: Impeach Acosta, and then impeach Trump

“Hi, my name is [NAME] and I am calling from [PLACE] regarding Labor Secretary Acosta and the plea deal he brokered for Jeffrey Epstein in 2008. Speaker Pelosi and many prominent Democrats have called for Acosta’s resignation, but I would like to see the House go one step further and impeach Labor Secretary Acosta for protecting a sexual predator. What is more, I think it is time that the House responds to the 16 accusations of sexual assault leveled against President Trump, and impeach him as well. Democrats have control of the House; please use that power to force these men to face their crimes.”
