Take Action Against Sexual Abuse at the Border

On Tuesday, Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fl) released documents that show thousands of incidents of sexual abuse of immigrant children in U.S. custody were reported to the Office of Refugee Resettlement over the last four years. The Health and Human Services documents also show an increase in the frequency of these incidents since Trump implemented his “zero tolerance” policy that separates children from their families.

The horrors at the border have to stop. Call your representatives to demand an investigation into the detention centers in question, and an end to child detention.

Sample Script:

“Hi, my name is NAME and I’m calling from PLACE in response to the recently published HHS documents that show thousands of reports of sexual abuse of immigrant minors in U.S. custody since 2015. This is one more in a string of human rights violations that we see coming from the child detention centers at the border – please push for an investigation into these sexual abuse allegations, and do whatever you can to defund the practice of detaining children. Thank you.”
